Roman orchid (Dactylorhiza romana - Gargano - Wild Orchids
Roman orchid (Dactylorhiza romana) a species of orchid. It is native to the Mediterranean Region of southern Europe and northern Africa, the range extending eastward to Iran and Turkmenistan. It can occur in two distinct forms: pale yellow and magenta with internediates. In Gargano the yell form predominates and can be distinguished from other yellow species (eg O pauciflora) and D sambucina by flower morphology, Gargano, Puglia, Italy, April 2019
